VANNEN WATCHES

A while back Vannen watches approached me to produce a design for their new XL range of limited edition watches. I jumped at the chance and made quick on producing something very different: The Tempus.
These are very limited and each one comes in its own black body bag, the face is printed with a clear matte graphic and each second will mark each passing breath you take; so live life people, live now, you cant take anything with you so you may as well have fun now. Go get these bad boys before they all go over at: VANNEN WATCHES
I also did an great interview over there if you would like to hear how I feel about cats, coffee and cultural divides here: Interview. (scroll down a few posts)

Screen printing

I am addicted to printing. Its the outcome and obvious evolution of being sat behind a computer for 2 years drawing things and sending them away for others to deal with. Speaking of deal, it was our Derek that pushed me into getting my first screen print poster made in the states, the Mumford for reinforcing that- and many more for sending me aceness. I had a great day with the great Chris Lloyd as my tutor and mentor and was a good laugh and full of years and years of info to glean. He loved hearing about the new wave of screen posters etc, having himself starting off selling screen prints in the 60's!!!!

I will be going back next week to do some more prints, learning dry point printing...all sorts of printing up to the point where I will be making solid brass acid corroded plates- am excited.

After spending the day learning I finally got to print something I have been dying to print for about a year: Sonispheres old poster.

I only printed 7 of them on bone paper. 4 colours. signed and numbered- very very limited. Will bung a load of stickers in with them if anyone wants them...available at the Store.

...and a few photos of the CAC meeting from the other night- we went for Chinese..

Morris : Legend

Get used to knowing that. The name 'Morris' can be traced to its varied and colourful history. Some say its a mutation of the the moors who invaded Europe, some say that its from the Latin 'Mauritius' which means 'dark or swarthy' (which makes sense because its always a given that the welsh have an unexplained darkness to them...and seeing as the sun never comes out here...)....(oh and how do you explain Tom Jones?!). Other say its from the German - where ever its origins we know that the spelling 'Morris' is a welsh one. And we know that the American 'Morris' was from Welsh settlers- who were great plantation owners and gave their names to their slaves...that's why there are so many blacks with welsh names...history tells us. Also, many plantation owners were no older that 14. How odd is that? I digress.
The other Morris I know is a jaw droppingly talented artist and a kind man from America who has sent me many great things. As he prepares for a new little morris to continue the name, he also finds time to make and send me these: thank you Brian:

Mr M Brady Clarke

Look at what I got in the post this morning!!! He said he was gonna send me a poster, but this is just incredible. There are moments when I bitch and moan about my job, but there is not a day or second that goes past where I cannot deny the awesomesauce of what I do which is strengthened by the artists I have met.

Go check out Mr Clarks work here and be visually chatted up, his stuff is beautiful : http://www.mbradyclark.com/
